Beginning- Our first session together will be an opportunity to get to know one another. We will go over paperwork, policies and confidentiality. It is important to take this time to ask any questions you might have about therapy, my credentials, experience and background. It might take a few sessions to gather a working history of your situation. This is normal and necessary to provide appropriate treatment.
Continuing Therapy- Throughout the course of working together I might periodically check in with you about your physical health, including exercise habits, eating habits and social patterns. This questioning is an attempt to build a holistic network of support around you. As I work from a mind-body perspective, it is important to me and the effectiveness of treatment that you are feeling a wrap-around sense of support. All aspects of your life work together to complete the big picture of your health, happiness and well-being. Keep in mind this is your therapeutic experience. I will be a guide and support as you explore options and goals. Your therapeutic experience can include as many of my skill areas as you feel are a good fit. There is no "one-size-fits-all". Your journey is unique to you.
